The Council of the Foundation
This is a body supervising the Foundation's activities. It consists of 5 to 7 members representing various areas of science, each an eminent specialist in his or her field of study, and with a professorial rank.
The Council's scope of competence includes the appointment and dismissal of the Foundation's Executive Board, the adopting annual programmes for FNP activities, the approval of allocations of financial resources, the approval of projected changes in FNP statute proposed by the Board of the Foundation, and endorsement of annual reports prepared by the Board.

The term of office of the current Council is from 1st September 2004 to 31st August 2008.

The members of the Council are:

The Executive Board
This consists of two or three members: President and one or two Deputy Presidents.
The Board is in charge of all the Foundation's activities. Its responsibilities include the management of assets, receiving bequests and endowments, the development and implementation of annual and multi-annual programmes, and representing the Foundation to the world outside. Other tasks involve determining the Foundation's organisational structure, adopting internal rules and regulations and codes, specifying the number of employees and the remuneration principles for FNP associates, and establishing and appointing members of various advisory bodies supporting the Foundation in the realisation of its programmes.
