Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna
Institut fuer die Wissenschaften vom Menschen (Institute for Human Sciences) is a science and research institution formed in Vienna in the early 1980s, being a place of meetings and cooperation between scientists, academics and students from the countries of Central, Eastern and Western Europe. Its sphere of interest was initially the countries which are now known as the new EU members, and later also relations between Europe and the US and Canada. Based on an agreement between IWM and FNP, recipients of the IWM Tischner Fellowship can, after completing their fellowship, apply for a return grant under the HOMING programme. In a situation where the substantial value of the applications is comparable, Tischner fellows entering the competition for an FNP return grant receive preferential treatment. The IWM also provides support to HOMING beneficiaries during their short visits made to IWM while receiving the scholarship from FNP.
