The application should specify how the candidate plans to continue the cooperation with the host research centre, and how this will foster the development of his/her scientific career.
Apart from active research work, the Foundation also expects the candidate to be active in furthering public understanding and promotion of science.
In 2007 the Foundation obtained supplementary funding for the programme from the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism. The details of this arrangement are still being agreed; once the budget for 2007-2010 is approved, we will provide updated information on any changes to the grant amounts.
International cooperation in the programme
The FNP has signed agreements on cooperation in implementing the POWROTY/HOMING programme with several foreign institutions. As part of this cooperation, the programme’s beneficiaries will be able to combine the FNP grant with additional funding from the institutions in question. At the competition stage, if applications are comparable in terms of scientific value, preference will be given to candidates who have already obtained support from an institution cooperating with the FNP. We cooperate with: Max Planck Gesellschaft, DFG, Research Council Norway, Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung, Institut fuer die Wissenschaften vom Menschen (Vienna), National Science Foundation.
