Grants for Archive Search Abroad
Grants awarded to Polish scholars for archive search abroad aimed at realization of original and groundbreaking projects in the field of humanities or social sciences.These are stipends for conducting specialised archival research abroad in order to locate and study source materials in the humanities and social sciences that are not available in
The programme does not cover trips for the purpose of reviewing the latest literature in the field, widely available books and periodicals, or materials found in the collections of various research libraries around the world. Nor does it cover excursions related to research projects that could be conducted under research grants financed by other institutions (such as the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, other Polish and foreign foundations, etc.)
To be eligible to apply for these stipends, the applicant must:
hold a doctorate, and
apply for the stipend no later than 6 years after obtaining the doctorate.
The stipend may be awarded once every 2 years, for a period of up to 2 months, for a visit to one, or in justified instances more than one, library or archive abroad. The amount of the stipend is determined on a case-by-case basis by the executive board of the foundation, depending on the place where the stipend is to be used.
The average stipend is EUR 2,200 per month (or equivalent in other currency).
The basis for evaluating the application is the research project presented requiring archival research abroad, together with a detailed justification of the need for the visit, as well as the scholarly achievements of the candidate as documented by previous publications.
