The Scottish Government has launched a £3 million Saltire Research Awards grant for research collaboration between scientists from Scotland and European Union countries. The funding is available to researchers from all disciplines, including arts, humanities, and social sciences, but also hard science and interdisciplinary projects.

The Saltire Research Awards scheme provides support not only for new projects but also ongoing research. Depending on the advancement of the research work, there is a separate call for pilot projects, workshops, scientific exchanges at different stages of research – both for early career scholars and established researchers. The aim of the funding for collaboration between researchers from Scotland and the European Union is to support innovative projects and solutions to support the implementation of European policy objectives.

Applications and inquiries about Saltire Research Awards grants should be directed to the Scottish Funding Council and Royal Society of Edinburgh.

The deadline for applications is 12 July 2021.
