Additional funds for the beneficiaries of the Smart Growth Operational Programme Measure 4.4 for research on the COVID-19 pandemic

The Foundation for Polish Science invites the beneficiaries of the TEAM, TEAM-TECH (including the core-facility type competitions), FIRST TEAM, HOMING and POWROTY/Reintegrations programmes to apply for financing of new research tasks aimed at fighting the COVID-19 pandemic within the ongoing projects of the Measure 4.4 SG OP.

Who can apply

Application can be submitted by a project manager carrying out a project within the Measure 4.4 ?Increasing human potential in the R&D sector? of the Smart Growth Operational Programme 2014?2020 (SG OP), along with a research unit, within the TEAM, TEAM TECH (including the core-facility type competitions), First TEAM, HOMING and POWROTY/Reintegrations programmes.

Applications from beneficiaries carrying out their projects under a state aid scheme will not be considered. In case of consortia the financing can be granted only to a research unit.

The offer

The current call offers:

  • increase in project funding for projects already ongoing within the Measure 4.4 and
  • potential extension of the project implementation period,

which are to enable competitive research on the subject of COVID-19.

If the application is accepted, a new project budget will be adopted, taking into account the costs necessary to perform the tasks presented in the application.

The thematic scope

New research tasks must address topics related to the COVID-19 pandemic, e.g. biological issues of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, medical, epidemic, diagnostic issues, crisis management, etc.

Research issues may fall into any scientific field or have interdisciplinary character.

The budget

To finance the new research tasks the Foundation will spend a total of up to 15 mln PLN.

Application deadline

Applications for project modifications can be submitted from April 15th to May 12th, 2020 until 4:00 pm (local time).

An application may be submitted no later than 3 months before the deadline for completion of the project.

The application may be submitted no later than 3 months before the date of completion of a given project. The time limits for project completion are extended by 90 days pursuant to the Act of 3 April 2020 on special measures to support operational programme implementation due to the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020 (Journal of Laws, item 694).
