The Foundation for Polish Science has become a partner of the first Polish edition of a prestigious competition called Innovators Under 35 organized by the MIT Technology Review – the world’s oldest technology magazine published by the renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The competition seeks out young innovation leaders (under 35 years of age) who thanks to their input into the development of new technologies contribute invaluably to addressing the challenges of contemporary reality and improving the lives of many people around the world.

The competition has been organized by the MIT Technology Review since 1999, the aim being to create a group of initiators of social change. Previous winners in the competition include Konstantin Novoselov (winner of a Nobel Prize in physics), Max Levchin (founder of PayPal), David Karp (founder of Tumblr), Sergey Brin (founder of Google) and Linus Torvalds (founder of Linux).

For five years now, the MIT Technology Review has sought talented innovators also in other parts of the world, including Europe. European editions of the competition have so far been held in Germany, France, Italy and Spain, selecting more than 100 young new-technology leaders. This year the group will be joined by 10 people from Poland and another 10 from Belgium.

The nominees for the competition can be young entrepreneurs, researchers and visionaries – authors of projects in such areas of technology as the Internet, biotechnology, telecommunications, transport, materials and energy. Nominations are being accepted until 31 March 2015 via a platform accessible on the website: www.mitinnovatorseurope.com. Once the nominations are over, the candidates’ profiles will be evaluated by a panel of experts. The names of the Polish edition’s 10 winners will be published in late May / early June. All the finalists of regional editions are automatically entered in the global competition.

The Polish edition’s grand gala to present the best projects will be held on 11 June 2015. Detailed information on the gala will be provided at a later date.
