We are pleased to announce that the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP) has signed an agreement with the intermediary institution?the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBiR)?for implementation of the grant project International Research Agendas, as part of Measure 4.3 of the Smart Growth Operational Programme 2014?2020 co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund. Next week FNP will announce the documentation describing the rules for submission of applications and implementation of projects in the first competition.
The International Research Agendas project is patterned on the ?Teaming for Excellence? programme announced by the European Commission as part of Horizon 2020. The project is aimed at prominent scientists from Poland and abroad. The project will provide support to independent, specialised scientific units in Poland implementing international research agendas?original R&D programmes developed in strategic cooperation with renowned scientific institutions from other countries. The support should lead to creation of world-class specialised scientific units in Poland applying international best practices for identification of research programmes and topics, HR policy, R&D management and commercialisation of R&D results.
According to Prof. Maciej Żylicz, President of the Board of the Foundation for Polish Science, ?The International Research Agendas programme makes it possible to set new standards of research excellence, support innovativeness, and create new jobs in Poland for the best researchers. The programme can only succeed if the new research institutions are created around researchers with significant scientific achievements, together with strategic foreign partners.?
The Foundation plans to launch the first competition in the International Research Agendas programme next week. An announcement soliciting applications will be published on the FNP website.
We also suggest watching the broadcast from the informational meeting on International Research Agendas held on 29 October 2015 in Warsaw. During the event, the guidelines for the project were discussed in detail, with information about the opportunities and rules for participating in the competition. The transmission of the entire event is available at the Foundation?s YouTube channel.
