Life Skills ? Social Competence Training is a programme of the Polish Children and Youth Foundation aiming to support students of Warsaw?s technical and vocational secondary schools in acquiring social competences useful for seeking a place for themselves on the labour market as well as in other areas of life. The programme?s elements include a competition in which students present their ideas for technical solutions.

We would like to encourage FNP beneficiaries to become involved in this project. We are looking for scientists interested in taking part in meetings with the participants of the Life Skills competition and sharing with them their experiences from carrying out their own research projects. We believe that the experience of leading researchers will provide these young people with excellent inspiration and encouragement to put their own ideas into practice, while the practical information about all the stages of implementing innovative projects which they can obtain from experienced researchers will help the students carry out their own projects in the future.

Participation in the programme would involve a maximum two-hour visit to a school to present the scientist?s project (e.g. completed under one of the FNP?s programmes) and hold a discussion with the students and their teacher. The students are sure to appreciate the possibility of keeping in touch with the visiting researcher afterwards as well.

Anyone interested in taking part in this project is asked to contact: kaminska@fnp.org.pl

The project starts in October and continues until the end of November 2013.
