We would like to invite you to a series of online webinars “How European Funds Support Research and Innovation” organised by the Foundation for Polish Science. During the meetings, prominent scientists will present the latest research results in the field of green energy, medical diagnostics and new materials. This research was co-financed from European Funds under the Smart Growth Operational Programme by the Foundation for Polish Science.
13.12.2022, 12.00 – How do European Funds support research and innovation? Energy and ecology. Scientific solutions that will create a better climate

Shifting the entire global economy to clean, non-carbon tracks is one of the biggest challenges of the 21st century. To overcome the climate crisis, we need to rethink how we produce, store and use energy. Research by scientists, thanks to funding from the European Funds under the Smarth Growth Operational Programme, is opening the way to an efficient, clean and environmentally friendly future. During the webinar, experts will discuss the topic of increasing efficiency and optimising perovskite-based cell structures, as well as the necessary transformation of the electricity grid. The topic of energy banks will also be addressed in the context of the technology being developed by Polish researchers for the batteries based solely on solid components.

Bożena Kamińska-Kaczmarek (M. Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology PAS in Warsaw, award winner of the TEAM-TECH Core Facility programme), Prof. Wojciech Młynarski (Medical University of Łódź, award winner of the TEAM-NET programme), dr. Tomasz Perkowski (Foundation for Polish Science).
From cutting-edge eye therapies to unravelling the processes behind the development of both the most common and rarest conditions, to innovative techniques that could allow diseases to be tackled using solutions developed by nature itself – during the webinar, experts will discuss, among other things, modern diagnostic methods for diseases of the eye and tests directly applicable to the early detection of insulin resistance. A breakthrough platform that enables comprehensive cancer diagnostics and the design of personalised therapies for such conditions will also be discussed.
16.12.2022, 12.00 – How do European Funds support research and innovation? From nanoscale to megastructures. Materials of the future are already being created in Polish laboratories today

Anna Sroka-Bartnicka (Medical University of Lublin, award winner of the POWROTY programme), dr Tomasz Perkowski (Foundation for Polish Science).
The materials being developed in Polish laboratories are opening up completely new, previously unavailable possibilities for engineers and scientists. Technologies currently being tested offer a chance to revolutionise data storage and energy. The meeting will address issues such as the application of topological properties of matter in the nanoscale, the possibilities offered by photonics in the creation of innovative crystal growth technologies and research into the production and practical application of nanodiamonds.
