On 23-26 September 2019 in Kraków two prestigious events in the field of microelectronics were held, the 49th European Solid-State Device Research Conference (ESSDERC) and the 45th European Solid-State Circuits (ESSCIRC), gathering over 500 participants from 42 countries, including representatives of universities, research institutes and global companies dealing with new equipment, materials, technologies and systems used in microelectronics.
The event was organised with the contribution from the winners of the competition under the International Research Agendas Programme (IRAP) of the Foundation for Polish Science, prof. dr hab. Wojciech Knap and prof. dr hab. inż. Thomas Skotnicki, who are also the founders of the Center for Terahertz Research and Applications CENTERA. During the conference 164 papers were presented within regular sessions and more than 40 within the so-called tutorials. One of the tutorials, ?THz Science, Technologies and Applications?, was led by prof. Wojciech Knap.
The objective of the events was the exchange of experience at the research forum and the promotion of Polish science among companies developing the most advanced electronic technologies in Europe.
