The Polish Scientific Networks conference, of which the FNP Beneficiaries’ Club is an organizer, will be held in Warsaw on 18-20 June 2015.
The conference is intended for Polish researchers currently working abroad as well as scientists and students carrying out research projects in Poland but interested in international collaboration. Participants may register until 23 April using the registration form on the conference website.
The conference’s main aim is to encourage Polish scientists to be professionally mobile not only by going to other countries to study or complete postdoctoral fellowships, but also by returning to Poland in order to pursue their research careers here.
“We want to see the trend known as the ‘brain drain’ to change into a ‘brain circulation'”, says Prof. Janusz Bujnicki, one of the conference’s initiators. “Poland offers young scientists many opportunities currently not available in other countries. The biggest opportunities exist for mobile researchers with international achievements who know how to translate good ideas into spectacular grant applications. Through the Polish Scientific Networks conference we intend to facilitate collaboration and new contacts”, Prof. Bujnicki adds.
Confirmed conference participants include Minister Lena Kolarska-Bobińska, Prof. Maciej Żylicz, Prof. Andrzej Blikle, Dr Justyna Olko, Prof. Jerzy Paszkowski and Prof. John Zarnecki. Invited guests will take part in discussion panels as well as delivering lectures at four sessions covering the social sciences and humanities, science and business, life sciences, and exact sciences. The discussion panel topics will include the role of mobility in scientific careers and collaboration between science and industry. Participants will be able to present their research results in the form of oral reports or poster presentations.
The conference is being organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Polish Academy of Sciences’ Young Scientists’ Academy and the FNP Beneficiaries’ Club. Partners and supporting institutions include Polish Academy of Sciences institutes, Citizens of Science, and Science. Polish Perspectives.
