2015 Foundation for Polish Science Prizes Awarded

The awards ceremony for the Foundation for Polish Science Prizes was held on 2 December 2015 at the Royal Castle in Warsaw. Prizes were awarded to Prof. Jerzy Jedlicki from the Institute of History of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, winner of the Prize in the humanities and social sciences, Prof. Stanisław Penczek from the Centre for Molecular and Macromolecular Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Łódź, for chemical and material sciences, and Prof. Kazimierz Rzążewski from the Centre for Theoretical Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, for mathematical, physical and engineering sciences.
 

The ceremony was attended by numerous state and local authorities, leaders of research institutions and NGOs, members of the academic community, and family, friends and colleagues of the winners. The Foundation for Polish Science Prizes were awarded by Prof. Andrzej Jerzmanowski, chairman of the Foundation Council, which serves as the awards committee for the Prize, and Prof. Maciej Żylicz, president of the Foundation Board. During the ceremony, the winners were congratulated by Stanisław Karczewski, Speaker of the Polish Senate, Prof. Aleksander Bobko, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education, Presidential Minister Wojciech Kolarski on behalf of the President of Poland, Prof. Wojciech Fałkowski, Deputy Minister of National Defence, Dr Magdalena Gawin, Deputy Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Prof. Michał Karoński, chairman of the National Science Centre Council, and Prof. Jerzy Woźnicki, chairman of the General Council for Science and Higher Education. A letter of congratulations was also sent to the winners by Marek Kuchciński, Speaker of the Polish Sejm.

The ceremony featured a performance by the cello duet of Gustaw Bafeltowski (13) and Wojciech Bafeltowski (16), talented young musicians studying under the care of the National Children?s Fund. The emcee for the ceremony was Grażyna Torbicka.
