New chemotherapy strategy for treating pancreatic cancer

A work co-authored by Wojciech Fendler from the Medical University of Łódź, a winner in FIRST TEAM and many other FNP programmes, is published in the latest issue of Nature Communications.

The article, ?Compensatory Metabolic Networks in Pancreatic Cancers Upon Perturbation of Glutamine Metabolism,? describes the results of research conducted by scientists from the Dana?Farber Cancer Institute at Harvard Medical School in cooperation with researchers from the Medical University of Łódź concerning a new drug therapy designed to battle pancreatic cancer. The team from Łódź and Boston developed a new chemotherapy strategy breaking down the process through which pancreatic cancer cells develop resistance, and effectively inhibiting their growth.

Beata Małachowska, a Polish physician, was also one of the co-authors of the study.
