The Foundation has selected the beneficiaries of the Alexander von Humboldt Polish Honorary Research Scholarship. This is awarded to outstanding scientifically active German scholars wishing to spend several months researching in Poland.
The winners of the 16th edition of the programme (2012) are:
- Dr Stefan STOLTE of the University of Bremen, Center for Environmental Research and Sustainable Technology, who will be conducting the project ?Estimating and modelling the bioaccumulation potential of organic ions by in vitro and in silico methods ? linking fundamental research with proactive hazard assessment using the case study of ionic liquids? in collaboration with Prof. dr hab. Piotr Stępnowski of the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Gdańsk.
- Dr hab. Timo BURSTER of the University of Ulm (University Medical Center Ulm), who will be carrying out the project ?Alteration and function of proteases during the process of immunosenescence? together with Prof. dr hab. Michał Zimecki from the Institute of Immunology and Experimental Therapy at the Polish Academy of Sciences in Wrocław.
Both scholars will spend six months in Poland. The stipend is worth 4000 euro per month.
